Cody,
Wyoming is located in the northwest corner of Wyoming at the base of the
Rocky Mountains. We are just 53 miles from Yellowstone Park and, in
fact, we are the east entrance to the park.
We
are lucky enough to have one of the greatest western museums in the world
right here on our doorstep. The Buffalo
Bill Historical Center is located in downtown Cody. The tickets
are good for 2 days....and there is a reason. There are five of the
most beautiful museums housed under one roof that you have ever seen.
Western art, Plains Indian displays, Buffalo Bill memorabilia, a natural
history exhibit....and don't forget the guns! This is one of the best
and most detailed gun displays ever put together. You just can't
afford to miss it.
From
Memorial Day to Labor Day the sound of rodeo is heard every night at 8:00
pm at the west edge of town. Local and professional cowboys compete
to win the season end awards.
July
4th is quite the party here. There is a PRCA rodeo July 1st, 2nd, 3rd
and 4th with parades on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th. Very festive!!
There is also a great craft fair on the 3rd and 4th. It features
artists and craftsman from near and far. (Yep, I will be
there!)
But,
I have to say there is nothing like Christmas time in a small Rocky
Mountain town. The town holds fund raising events throughout the year
just to be able to decorate the town for Christmas. It is very
beautiful, especially when it snows.

Below
are some pictures to share with you about the area.

Big Horn Sheep on the way to Yellowstone
Park. In the fall these guys come down from the mountains to
winter. You have to be very careful when driving to the Park because
they are right on the road and won't move.
